A Daily Dose of Inspired Wisdom for Quote Lovers. May 4.

On this day in 1975, Moe Howard, the driving force behind The Three Stooges, died. He was 77. As the ringleader of history’s most famous three-man comedy team, Moe was a popular comedic actor for over a quarter of a century until his fortunes began to change in the late 1950’s. The Stooges had no movie contract, their physical style of humor was considered passe’, and brothers Curly and Shemp Howard were both dead. Moe, one of cinema’s greatest slapstick comedians, was being slapped around in real life. But he didn’t quit. Instead, Moe kept the act alive by performing in tiny nightclubs until persistence finally paid off. In 1958 Three Stooges reruns began playing on television, and a new generation of fans discovered the group. Almost overnight, the boys were more popular than ever, thus proving that perseverance pays, even for a stooge. And now, for our featured entertainment…

“My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging.”
Hank Aaron
“Perhaps perseverance has been the radical principle of every truly great character.”
John Foster

“Dreams do come true, if we only wish hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it. ‘What will you have?’ says God? ‘Pay for it and take it.’”
James Barrie

I never felt like throwing in the towel. It took seven years of auditions until I started learning how to perform. It was discouraging, but I never quit because I love what I do.”
Tony Bennett

Genius may conceive, but patient labor must consummate.
Horace Mann

“You always pass failure on the way to success.”
Mickey Rooney

“Who speaks of triumph? To endure is everything.”
Al Pacino

Today’s Bible Verse
