A
Daily Dose of Inspired Wisdom for Quote Lovers.

On
this day in 1943, football legend Joe Namath was born in Beaver Falls, PA. In
college, Namath was a star quarterback under coach Bear Bryant at the University
of Alabama. Then, as “Broadway Joe,” Namath went on to lead the New York Jets.
Before Super Bowl III, the flamboyant quarterbasck guaranteed victory over the
heavily favored Baltimore Colts (the Jets won). When he was inducted into the
Professional Football Hall of Fame, Namath observed, “I want you to know that I
really am not here today because of old Joe alone. It was a team effort every
step of the way.” Below, Broadway Joe’s savvy old college coach shares a few
more bits of wisdom from the gridiron.
