On
this day in 1907, Marion Morrison was born. Morrison later changed his name to
John Wayne and became one of
America’s
most popular actors. Marion Morrison was an “A” student in high school who
earned a football scholarship at the
University of
Southern California.
But when a shoulder injury ended his football career,
Marion
tried his hand at acting. The rest is Hollywood history. Wayne once said,
“Courage is being scared to death . . . and saddling up anyway.” May we,
too, saddle up and do the right thing.
