To blame others for our own problems is the height of futility. Yet blaming others is so easy to do and improving ourselves is so much harder. So instead of solving problems ourselves, we are tempted to do the easy thing: We may fret over the perceived unfairness and inequalities of life while doing precious little else.

Are you looking for an ironclad formula for problem-solving that will leave you happier, healthier, wealthier, and wiser? Then don’t play the blame game. It is a game in which all of its participants are losers.

The Blame Game Cannot Be Won

"Blame All and Praise All are two blockheads."
Ben Franklin

All blame is a waste of time.
Wayne Dyer

"Let us not throw away any of our days on useless resentment."
Samuel Johnson

"
The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars / But in ourselves."

"The search for someone to blame is always successful."

"When a man points a finger at someone else, he should remember that four of his fingers are pointing at himself."
Louis Nizer

Don’t Get Mad, Get Better

"To find a fault is easy; to do better may be difficult."
Plutarch

"Growth begins when we begin to accept our own weakness."

Jean Vanier

"The largest room in the world is the room for improvement."
Harvey Mackay

"All of the significant battles are waged within the self."
Sheldon Kopp

And Finally . . .

"The longer we dwell on our misfortunes, the greater is their potential to harm us."
Voltaire

"Sooner or later, if people are to be healed, they must learn that the entirety of one’s adult life is a series of personal choices, decisions. If they can accept this totally, then they become free people. To the extent that they do not accept this, they will forever feel themselves victims."
M. Scott Peck

"Take your life in your own hands, and what happens? A terrible thing: no one to blame."
Erica Jong

"Never give the other guy the pleasure of hearing you squawk."
