Arguments, like criticism, come in at least two varieties: constructive and destructive. On occasion, arguments have positive outcomes, especially when those arguments are conducted by mature adults who are earnestly seeking the truth. Unfortunately, most arguments do not fit that description.

The next time you feel tempted to give someone "a piece of your mind" ask yourself which piece. Is it a piece of your anger or your insight? If the answer is the later, then you’re free to speak up and share your enlightenment with the world. But, if the answer is the former, think twice before you vent. Since angry words, once spoken, can’t be retrieved, it’s better to think long and hard before you rant and rave . . . unless, of course, you’re a talk radio host or a professional wrestler.
