Andrew Jackson (1829-37) the 7th President of the United States. Nicknamed "Old Hickory," Jackson was an action oriented, tough-as-nails soldier, lawyer, and politician. As the General who led his troops to victory against the British at the Battle of New Orleans, he become the most notable military hero in the War of 1812. Jackson once observed, "Take time to deliberate; but when the time for action arrives, stop thinking and go in." He was right, as the following quotations clearly demonstrate.
